About The Body Shop

The Body Shop was founded by Dame Anita Roddick in 1976, it began in Brighton, England with alittle green-painted shop in the streets.

Thanks to her belief in something revolutionary, ethically sourced and naturally-based ingredients from around the world, The Body Shop has been following her vision for over 40 years.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask

The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask is a vegan and cruelty-free mask that is enriched with Community Fair Trade tea tree oil to remove excess oil and treat blemishes while you sleep; it"s suited for oily, blemished skin.

First Impression

I had already tried The Body Shop"s Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask and British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask, both of which I LOVED, so I knew I had to try a different one.

And since, I have oily skin, the Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask seemed fitting.

I love what The Body Shop stands for which is sustainability and ethical business practices.

The packaging of the Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask, and of all of The Body Shop products, are of the simplest packaging I"ve ever come across, and it"s all because the brand focuses on sustainable packaging and for ways to reduce their environmental impact.

The Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask is a light green mask that comes in a cylindrical shaped container with 75ML of product, which is just amazing for the price because it comes with quite a lot of product and little goes a long way.

Right after opening the mask, I could immediately smell the tea tree which was very over-powering.

It has a smooth gel-cream consistency, that is surprisingly very thin and lightweight making it easy to spread all over your skin.

To prevent contaminating your product with bacteria, dirt and impurities, I always recommend you use skin care spatulas; I love these reusable silicone ones.

My Experience With The Body Shop

Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask

*

As someone who struggles with excess oil and blemishes, I was really excited to try this mask out.

The Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask is an overnight mask and is suited for oily blemished skin types for a reason; tea tree oil can irritate the skin and even cause contact dermatitis.

The biggest concern I had was that the mask, being a tea tree mask, would be too drying and harsh on my skin.

Fortunately, it was easy to spread evenly over my skin because of its smooth and thin consistency.

Right after applying the mask, I immediately felt a tingling yet refreshing sensation which was a relief; I personally didn"t experience any discomfort or irritation.

When I woke up the next day, I could see how the texture of my skin was smoother, my complexion was brighter and there was a reduction of sebum and redness.

While, it didn"t get rid of any existing blemishes, since there was an evident sebum reduction I"m sure it would help prevent future blemishes.

The Disadvantages

As someone with oily blemished skin, I liked this mask, however, it might not be the best choice for other skin types as the tea tree is quite strong and might be too harsh and irritate your skin.

Also, what might feel like a cooling sensation to me might feel like a burning one to another; sensitive skin types will definitely want to stay away.

Ingredients that may cause some possible side effects:

Although, Glycerin, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Salicylic Acid, Allantoin and Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate are all safe ingredients, they may cause irritation and allergic reactions on your skin. While,PropanediolandZinc Sulfatehave been labeled as skin sensitizers.

On the other hand, Limonene, Citral and Citronellol all can irritate and lead to serious allergic reactions on your skin.

In concentrations higher than 1, theSafety Data Sheet describes Phenoxyethanol as harmful, if it comes in contact with your skin, is inhaled, or gets into your eyes.

Research suggests that Ci 19140/Yellow 5 may harm skin cells over time and cause itching and hives.

A study on Artificial Colours in foods showed that,Ci 42090/Blue is linked to cancer, and that it affects neurons which cause allergic reactions.

Last but not least, it didn"t clear my blemishes, it has a strong tingling sensation (which was fine by me but might not be ideal for someone else) and the scent of tea tree was very over-powering.

Why Should You Use The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask?

You should use The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask because it removes excess oil, reduces and calms redness and smooths the texture of your skin while you sleep.

When Should You Use The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask?

You should use The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask at night before going to sleep.

For best result, depending on your skins needs, use it either daily or 2 to 3 times per week.

How Should You Use The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask?

After a very long day, your skin accumulates dirt and grime throughout the day, so start your nighttime skin care routine by cleansing your skin followed by a toner.

With a skin care spatula, apply an even layer of the Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask all over your face, avoiding your eyes and lips, and leave it overnight.

The next morning, when you wake up, rinse off with warm water.

TIP

For a refreshing and indulgent sensation, put the mask in the refrigerator to keep it cool.

Precautions Before Using The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask

Avoid using it on sensitive skin and the eyes and mouth.

Final Thought

The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask has a smooth gel-cream consistency, that is thin and lightweight which makes it easy to spread all over your skin.

It comes in a cylindrical shaped container with 75ML of product, which is completely worth it for the price because it comes with quite a lot of product and little goes a long way.

It"s not the best choice for other skin types as the tea tree is quite strong and might be too harsh and irritate your skin; that"s why patch testing is necessary to avoid allergic reactions.
