I recently joined BB Cosmetics Bloggers program and I reached out to BB Cosmetics about trying a couple of products. One of the items that I was keenly interested in is The Face Shop CC Oil Control Water Cushion My Other Bag, as I like CC’s ~ they are totally different from BB creams ~ I had seen the other versions of ultra moist and intense cover, but since I have oily skin, I wanted to try the oil control version.

The Face Shop CC Oil Control Water Cushion My Other Bag

*

The Face Shop collaborated with My Other Bag ~ an eco-friendly brand which makes premium canvas totes with hand printed “designer” bags on them ~ and produced 3 different types of CC cushions using their designs based famous designer bags. They have three different types of My Other Bag CC Cushions. All of these will brighten your skin tone, provide UV protection as they have SPF50+ PA+++ and have hyaluronic acid to help with anti-aging and plump up fine lines and wrinkles.

I actually prefer CC creams over BB creams as they are more color correcting and brightening, more lightweight in texture and traditionally, not as dewy as BB creams. They also melt into your skin, enhancing not covering up your natural skin tone, they shouldn’t oxidize ~ turn orange ~ and rarely do I see them give off a grey cast. I have seen CC creams that were very pink, however.

Ultra Moist and Intense Cover come in three shades ~ V103: Pure Beige, V201: Apricot Beige and V203: Natural Beige.

Oil Control only comes in two shades ~ V201: Apricot Beige and V203: Natural Beige. I am not sure why, but really ~ since I find that Korean CC and BB creams several shades (light, lighter and a whiter shade of pale) that aren’t that different, I really don’t see major difference. One might be a bit more pink toned, another more golden, but they are very similar.

As I have oily skin and I really do not want heavy coverage, I went with the Oil Control version and I chose V203 as most Korean facial products are way too light for me. For reference, I wear Mac NW20 as a finishing powder and Jouer Matte Moisturizing Tint in Nude. I have a warm cast to my skin, but am also very ruddy around my T-Zone. BB Cosmetics has a warehouse in the United States, so I received my item very quickly

The CC cream comes in a cute canvas drawstring bag, with the same print on the front as My Other Bag’s tote version. The back of the bag has name of the purse, so you know which tote bag this is referencing. This is really well made and the canvas material is a good medium weight.

This compact is very nicely made ~ the design is not sitting on top of the lid, but it under a hard clear plastic top, so that the design will not rub off easily. The base of the compact is in a golden color and even the puff has the My Other Bag X The Face Shop inscription.

This has a nice sized mirror and the both the outer lid and inner lid snap shut without popping open (Innisfree, I am giving you the side eye here..) The CC cream is warm toned and is a bit more yellow than my normal skin tone. The texture is feather weight and it dries down quickly to a matte finish. I did not notice any scent that was strong or unusual in this product.

Arrghh, the selfie. I have to be more comfortable doing them ~ I am not, but I know it is really helpful to actually see a product on a person’s face, not just swatched on the hand. Lippies and eye shadows are okay to swatch on hands and arms, but foundations are tricky ~ what looks good on the hand might just be a disaster on the face! So, on the left, this is a freshly washed face and I have already applied all of my skin care products. You can see that my cheeks and forehead are more warm with hyper pigmentation and the pink ruddiness around my nose and chin.

Annnnd, the scary photo on the right is with 2 applications of the CC Oil Control cushion. This really gives great coverage and I think that 2 applications is too much for me. However, I do not feel like I am wearing heavy makeup at all. What else am I wearing in that photo? On my brows, Berrison Oops! Dual Tint Brow in 01 Dark Brown (courtesy of BB Cosmetic), Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara  and e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Smooth Matte Eyeshadow in Blushing Rose on my lips ~ yes, this is great as a lip color (see my review here). My eye color looks darker because I am looking slightly downwards and not directly into the light and into the camera. I wouldn’t just wear this as is, I would add a blush and eye shadow to complete the look.

This CC applies smoothly without tugging and isn’t sticky. It applies initially with a glowy-dewiness that worried me, but it dries down to a matte/satin finish that reminds me of a finishing powder. The coverage is medium-high and it really tones down and evens out my ruddiness and covers blemish spots and hyper-pigmentation. Since the coverage is more dense, I don’t feel like I am patting my life away with this cushion, which is one of the main reasons why I am not normally a cushion fan. This was quick to apply and not a lot of “pat, pat, patting”. The finish is a bit flat and two dimensional because this is a matte product and it is a bit drying ~ and if an oily skinned person tells you it is a bit drying, that is telling you something! I was surprised to find that it was drying around my nose area, which is normally my most oily area on my face ~ however, I am thrilled it is not a dewy product as Korean skincare is all about the dew. However, if I have dry patches, I will have to add some moisturizer, otherwise, it will be flaky. This is supposed to be a sweat proof formula and I did run some water over my hand with the product on it ~ the water did bead up where the cream was applied, so I suppose that it is sweat proof (or at least somewhat water proof)

The shade is a bit light for me, but once I apply blush and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette ~ which I totally recommend ~ it gives matte finishes some dimension ~ I was able to warm it up a bit. It holds onto its matte/satin finish for a couple of hours before the oil breaks thru again on my nose, forehead and chin and I didn’t need to reapply the actual color until after 5 hours. Even though this is a drying product, it did not cake on my skin when I did a touch-up. It doesn’t oxidize, so I didn’t turn into an Oompa Loompa and there is no grayish cast to this product.

Ingredients of Note

Silica, talc, and dimethicones provide the silky application that makes this CC product glide on smoothly and easily. Titanium dioxide and phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid  provide the UVA and UVB protection and the light, non greasy finish is due to phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid. Final Thoughts

I am really impressed by the formula and coverage from The Face Shop CC Oil Control Water Cushion. It really covered my skin imperfections without a heavy feeling ~ it is very lightweight that I don’t even notice that I have product on my face! This CC Oil Control does control oil fairly well, but as most oily skinned people will tell you, the oil always wins in the end, so you will have to touch up and blot. However, I loved the matte finish and finding matte finishes from Korean brands is that proverbial needle in a haystack! The compact is really nice as well ~ I would have liked the Ultra Moist design, as I love greens, but this one is fun and fresh looking. The Oil Control Water Cushion is for oily skin, maybe normal to oily. If you have dry skin, I would say that you should try Ultra Moist or Intense Cover instead. BB Cosmetic carries all three My Other Bag CC Cushions for $18.50 with all of the shades, so you can pick out the one that suits you best. If you live in the USA, BB Cosmetic has a USA warehouse, so shipping is super fast. They also ship internationally from their Korean warehouse and regardless of where you live, shipping is free. They supply samples and everything is wrapped nicely and shipped safely. Use my promo code of YW36SVN21HU for 8% off your purchases.

Have you tried any of these CC Cushions from My Face Shop? Which one did you get or are you interested in them? I recently purchased The Face Shop X Disney CC Long Lasting Cushion in Mike and will be reviewing that soon along with the The Face Shop X Disney Mike Eyeshadow Palette. I also purchased Dearpacker Black Ginseng Sleep Pack and Facial Sheet Masks, so reviews will be flooding my blog!
